YouTube sensation Jordan Hanz is known typically for her extravagant makeup tutorials, but has recently made a video sparking a lot of attention. Her video ‘Unattainable Woman’ is a social commentary on the damaging labels that affect women on a daily basis.
In her stop-motion video Hanz says that, “If a woman shows confidence, defends herself, shows a differing opinion than what someone else may have, she’s considered a bitch”
In an interview with the The Huffington Post Hanz revealed that her inspiration for this video came from Amber Rose and Blach Chyna. Two female celebrities who wore outfits highlighting the words “stripper” and “slut” to the 2015 MTV VMAs.
In the interview she opened up about the poignancy of the words “Asking for it”, which she writes across her chest in the video, as she explains that she is a victim of sexual assault. “Writing ‘asking for it’ on myself was very intense and it really hit home to me, but it was very liberating to actually smear the words and completely be taking away the words with paint and making from the words a masterpiece with paint,” she said.
Hanz aims to inspire other women to break free from the confinements of society and to be themselves.
