isn’t it great how despite the UK falling apart, we all come together to enjoy #GBBO

Val is a little crazy, Kate like swallows, Tom likes the booze, and everyone wants to date Selasi.
The show returned for its seventh season last night with a staggering 11.2 million people tuning in! GBBO already surpassed the Rio Olympics which peaked at 11.1 million. Twelve new, fresh-faced bakers enter the Bake Off tent and are given the task to create sumptuous drizzle cakes, Jaffa cakes and a genoise sponge.
If you are looking for the best commentary on the show look no further than Twitter, where people lost their minds.
Here are some of the best:

Everyone becomes a critic…
me: cant cook a pot noodle
me during #GBBO: that’s a devastating combination, not complementing flavours, simply cannot afford that risk

Me: struggles to make toast
Me when GBBO is on: that genoise sponge is over cooked. She should be so disappointed #GBBO
